The license plates are a popular feature of Power Meet. They were introduced in 1987, and were made of cardboard. Since 1990 they are made of metal and made in the U.S. Because the license plates are made in an extremely limited number and are given out according to "first come first serve" to exhibiting cars on Saturday morning, they have become quite a collector's item.
